Researchers Find Neural Switch that Turns Dreams On and Off

At the flip of a switch, neuroscientists can send a sleeping mouse into dreamland. The researchers inserted an optogenetic switch into a group of nerve cells located in the ancient part of the brain called the medulla, allowing them to activate or inactivate the neurons with laser light.

Effect of membrane filter pore size on microbial recovery and colony morphology

This whitepaper examines the influence of different pore sizes on some common microorganisms. It provides data on the effect of pore size on growth and recovery. The study compares a variety of microorganism/media combinations on a range of pore sizes. The filtration method used in the study was a standard glass funnel and base with vacuum.

Drug Used to Treat Cancer Appears to Sharpen Memory

New research found that a drug – RGFP966 – administered to rats made them more attuned to what they were hearing, able to retain and remember more information, and develop new connections that allowed these memories to be transmitted between brain cells.

A Rapid Method for the Sterility Testing of Filterable Samples

Sterility testing of final drug products is a mandatory release test. Traditional methods such as membrane filtration require a minimum incubation time of 14 days. This extended time to result delays product release and increases storage costs. Download this white paper and learn how to achieve results in just 5 days!
