Multiplex Analysis Approach to Discover Plasma-based, Biomarker Candidates for Multiple Sclerosis
Sponsored by EMD Millipore
Multiple sclerosis is a common cause of neurologic disability in young adults. Based on the past course of MS disease, several patterns of progression or subtypes have been described. In recent years, growing evidence suggests the value of peripheral biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of CNS disorders with the hope to improve clinical outcomes. We analyzed 120 protein biomarkers in plasma from 60 individuals with clinical diagnosis of the four subtypes of MS, including a control cohort. We identified several candidate biomarkers with significant plasma protein level changes in diseased vs. controls.
