ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (December 6, 2023) Beckman
Coulter, Inc. now offers nine native languages on the Optima MAX-XP
Micro-Ultracentrifuge, a compact and versatile platform on which
labware, rotors and centrifuges are manufactured and tested as an
integrated system to ensure optimal performance and safety.
English, Japanese, German, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese,
French, Italian and Russian can be selected via menu.
The Optima MAX-XP delivers fast, efficient separations of sample
volumes from 175 µL to13.5 mL at speeds up to 150,000 RPM and
RCFs of more than 1,000,000 x g. Additional instrument
features include quiet performance, a customizable interface
supporting multiple users, a compact footprint and instant,
context-sensitive on-board help.
A comprehensive library of Beckman Coulter micro-ultracentrifuge
rotors allows fine-tuning of research procedures and includes
fixed-angle, swinging-bucket and unique Near-Vertical Tube (NVT)
models. NVT rotors provide the ability to very quickly
perform DNA preps without contaminating the DNA band.
A multi-level approach to biocontainment* includes the use of
BioSafe** tubes, patented fluid containment annulus rotors and
available HEPA filtration. Optima MAX-XP can be used in a
biosafety hood and can be operated remotely with an available
cabling kit. Magnetic sensors ensure that maximum permitted
speed is not exceeded.
"The opportunity to use their native language will facilitate
the work of scientists in a number of countries," said Randy
Pawlovich, strategic marketing manager for Beckman Coulter’s
ultracentrifuges. "Offering this unique feature reflects our
commitment to support research by providing innovations developed
with a customer-focused philosophy of product development."
Electronic record keeping is supported through
password-controlled access, individual user and run history and a
USB port that simplifies data export. Also new to the centrifuge is
a 24-hour time format option. The Optima MAX-XP
Micro-Ultracentrifuge delivers excellent performance in such
emerging applications as viral-vector gene delivery and
nanoparticle research, as well as in time-tested methods like
protein purification and isolation.
