Damages at $1.5 billion, climbing in NashvilleNASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Damages to Nashville alone now are being estimated at $1.5 billion, a number the mayor says will climb because they haven't finished checking all areas.
Worse, Mayor Karl Dean said Friday that estimate only includes commercial, industrial and nearly 2,000 residences. The tab hasn't been estimated yet for public roads, bridges or the contents in any of those buildings.
Karl said the numbers seem daunting and are truly large. But he continued his message that Nashville is in the process of recovering from last weekend's floods.
