Protein-Nucleic Acid Interactions Kit

This fluorescence-based kit facilitates visualization of protein-nucleic acid interactions via electrophoretic mobility-shift (EMSA) assays. It allows detection and quantitation of protein and nucleic acids in the same gel, without the need for radioisotopes, using the SYBR® Green EMSA nucleic acid gel stain for DNA and RNA detection and the SYPRO® Ruby EMSA protein gel stain for protein detection. Staining can be achieved directly in the gel following electrophoresis; there is no need for pre-labeling or blotting. Quantitative information about the amounts of nucleic acid, protein, and protein-nucleic acid complex in the gel can be obtained, using UV illumination or a laser-based scanner for detection. The nucleic acid and protein fluorescence data can be digitally overlaid to produce a two-color representation of the gel.
