Laser Microarray Scanner

Mon, 03/19/2007 - 12:27pm

LS Reloaded laser scanner (Tecan US, Durham, NC) reproducibly scans a diverse range of microarray applications and format sizes. Designed with automation and throughput in mind, the scanner includes such features as parallel dual-channel detection and the ability to operate up to four excitation lasers and 24 emission filters. Array- Pro Analyzer software provides three-dimensional spot quality visualization, an auto-grid and spot flagging function, and many interactive data visualization tools. The scanner is fully compatible with other Tecan instruments, including liquid handling workstations and Tecan’s automated HS Pro series of microarray slide hybridization stations utilizing the same four-slide holder. The LS Reloaded can be used to automatically scan many different sample formats for fluorescence — slides, microplates, membranes, gels, blots, colony plates, and even encapsulated features in micro channels. A confocal mode scanner provides background suppression in thin samples. The non-confocal option is used for thicker or non-flat surfaces. Two- or three-color assays achieve consistent results across a wide dynamic signal range. Simultaneous two-color scanning with LS Reloaded keeps the run time to a minimum.
