340 To 650 NM Light Source
PhotoFluor light source combines a metal halide lamp with a sputtered heat-blocking optic to deliver light across the 340 to 650 nm spectrum. With emphasis on power in the UV range, the unit allows bright imaging of DAPI, Hoechst and other UV- absorbing fluorochromes, as well as those with higher excitation wavelengths, including Cy5. The unit’s light engine minimizes the need for alignment with quiet operation, and can increase the throughput of light-limited applications like spinning disk confocals. A power management strategy ensures long lamp life (approx.2000 hours) with minimal decrease in lamp output over time and minimal fluctuation during experiments. Unit performance exceeds that of a 100 W mercury lamp. A five position discrete neutral density wheel is included. It can be adapted to all current laboratory microscope models.
