Antibody Microarray Service Expedites Discovery
Fri, 06/22/2007 - 7:42am
The Kinex antibody microarray service tracks the functional states of hundreds of diverse proteins in human and animal cell and tissue specimens, as a first step for the discovery of biomarkers, protein-protein interactions, and the generation of cell signaling research leads. The proprietary high-throughput technology facilitates the simultaneous, quantitative detection of over 630 proteins for both expression and phosphorylation. Over 515 protein kinases catalyze the phosphorylation of more than 500,000 sites in the 30,000 proteins encoded by the human genome, and many of these phosphorylation sites directly control the functions of these proteins. Utilizing technology that allows highly validated antibodies to be uniformly spotted in quadruplicate on plastic slides, service clients can compare drug treated, diseased and normal samples for differences in protein states to discover drug mechanisms of action or to identify novel drug targets.
