How Technology Can Block Our Creativity
Dr. James Hamblin, senior editor at The Atlantic and host of the publication’s video series “If Our Bodies Could Talk,” posted a new episode last week entitled “Creative Ideas Happen When You Stop Checking Your Phone.”
Hamblin sat down with Manoush Zomorodi, the voice behind WNYC’s technology podcast New Tech City, to discuss the Bored and Brilliant challenge. Participants in this endeavor receive weekly challenges designed to limit people’s attachment to smartphones and other devices. Zomorodi’s hope is that this project fosters creativity among her listeners by reducing distractions in their lives.
In the latest episode, Zomorodi and Hamblin talked about the concept of “purposeful boredom” at the Science House in Manhattan. Watch the video below.
