Rare Giant Squid Swims into Japan's Toyama Bay

Visitors to Japan’s Toyama Bay saw an elusive giant squid swim into the harbor on Christmas Eve.

The creature was caught on video with a submersible camera, writes CNN. Reports claimed the mollusk swam around the harbor for several hours before a diver helped guide it back out to sea.

This squid may have been a juvenile, according to CNN, because it was estimated to be around 12.1 feet. Adult giant squids are believed to be able to grow as large as 43 feet long.

It was unclear why this squid ended up Toyama Bay, but you can watch CNN’s video below.
