EpiBone is a small startup in Harlem specializing in a unique method, which allows patients to “grow their own bone.” The company utilizes a small bioreactor to produce autologous bone grafts made from data collected by CT scans as well as stem cells gathered from the patient.

EpiBone’s website says its process “is strategically positioned to provide a superior bone graft that will provide exact defect repair, a simplified surgical procedure, improved bone formation and regeneration, and shorter recovery times.”

The startup was recently mentioned as one of the investments that belongs to a non-profit investment fund started by Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel.

EpiBone founders Nina Tandon and Sarindr Bhumiratanaare featured in the video below discussing how they grow bone samples in their lab.
