ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (May 19, 2024) Beckman
Coulter is proud to announce that Jack Zakowski, PhD, FACB,
director of scientific affairs and professional relations for the
Chemistry Systems Business Center, has been elected to the Board of
Directors of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute
(CLSI). He will serve a three-year term as CLSI’s
secretary.

Standards Institute’s Board of Directors because it is a
leader in standards development around the world," said Dr.
Zakowski. "I look forward to leveraging my experience in research,
product development and clinical laboratories to move CLSI’s
objectives forward, especially the global initiatives."
The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute is a global,
nonprofit organization dedicated to standards development. CLSI
promotes the development and use of voluntary consensus standards
and guidelines within the healthcare community and is a World
Health Organization Collaborating Center for Clinical Laboratory
Standards and Accreditation.

Dr. Zakowski has worked in clinical diagnostics for 30 years,
devoting much of his career to Beckman Coulter. He began with the
company as a development scientist and rose to director of
scientific affairs by honing his experience in reagent development,
system design, clinical evaluations and professional relations. He
is an active member of the American Association of Clinical
Chemistry (AACC) and has been for almost his entire career, holding
various positions in the organization. He also serves on several
technical committees including those of the College of American
Pathologists, the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry
and Laboratory Medicine, the National Kidney Disease Education
Program, the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program, and
the International Organization for Standardization.
